All that glitters...

MyOwnJudge - Oscars
Watching Oprah's dress glide across the floor and sparkle like it contained a twinkling star or two, was my favorite moment of the Oscars. When I searched the red carpet photos online, I was a little disappointed to find out that many played it safe. So guess who my favorites were? The glitter gals! Sequins and beads took the cake as standout pieces.

The desire for more sparkle and drama reminded me that the turn of the season is upon us (that and my rising annoyance with my sinuses). Time to revamp the closets!

I found some shiny getups to get you excited without depressing your wallet, but most importantly - the first top looks like a DIY project anyone can do (cut out a trapezoid from sequined fabric, and safety pin onto a sweatshirt - sewing machines and sewing skills can be used to but... why? When you can be funky!).

Mila Couldn't Look Sweet-a

MyOwnJudge Oscars
Did you think Oscar coverage was done for? Let's pick up the chit chat - pull up a seat and a chocolate bar (I've got a King Size Kit Kat for my last diet blasphemous hurrah before I start gunning for a six pack).

The screen queen has hit the red carpet trifecta with this lavender dress with the perfect mix of sugar and spice. The ruching and the lace adheres to every curve she may want to point out, and the soft color is very complimentary to her skin tone.

How do you like it?

Oscar Fever: Anne Hathaway

MyOwnJudge Oscars
The Oscars were on almost every television set last night. The hosting duet of James Franco and Anne Hathaway weren't as animated as I would've hoped, but as always, the fashion makes up for it all.

I'm a little mad that my girl Anne Hathaway was stuck with whoever it was that got her some of these getups. A lot of the dresses were stiff fabrics with a sheen - reminded me of special event outfits you get for children too young to protest.

Towards the end of the show, the dresses became more conscious of her figure and age. There was lots of glitter and sparkle. I was especially interested in the sparkletastic (tell me they weren't!) heels she wore with her tux for her performance with Franco dressed as Monroe.

Which was your favorite?
